Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian National Police’s Formed Police Unit (FPU) 7 Task Force has successfully completed its one-year deployment under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) without any major incidents.

FPU 7 MINUSCA Task Force Commander Senior Commissioner Norhayat stated that operating in an active conflict zone required personnel to maintain the highest level of vigilance throughout their deployment.

“Operating in a conflict zone, security was inevitably our primary challenge. We had to remain constantly vigilant and prepared for any eventuality,” Norhayat said here on Monday.

“Fortunately, throughout the one-year mission, there were no major incidents, and we were able to overcome all operational challenges,” he added.

Beyond security threats, Norhayat noted that adapting to unfamiliar and harsh climate conditions posed a significant physical hurdle for the 140-member contingent.

“Deploying to Africa meant dealing with drastically different weather conditions. We frequently encountered extreme weather, including severe rainstorms. It was the most physically demanding challenge we faced,” he said.

The contingent also operated under sensitive conditions while securing the host nation’s general election. Norhayat emphasized that heightened political tensions during an election cycle in a conflict-affected country demanded exceptional professionalism.

“Elections naturally escalate political tensions, particularly in a conflict zone. We carried out our duties strictly within the parameters of our UN mandate (focusing primarily on civilian protection),” he explained.

In addition to core peacekeeping and security operations, the contingent carried out community outreach initiatives to build trust with local people.

“We conducted social engagement programs, visiting local churches and schools to connect with residents. We also distributed school bags and stationery to children. They warmly welcomed our presence,” he added.

The 140 personnel were initially deployed on October 10, 2025. Following the completion of their tour, all members have safely returned to Indonesia.

In recognition of their overseas service, President Prabowo Subianto awarded the Satyalancana Bhakti Buana honorary medal to members of the task force via Presidential Decree No. 71/TK/2026, dated September 7, 2026.

Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police Commissioner General Wahyu Hadiningrat presented the decorations during a welcome-home ceremony on Monday.

Indonesia’s peacekeeping contribution in the Central African Republic will continue uninterrupted, with the FPU 8 MINUSCA Task Force officially assuming operational responsibilities in the capital, Bangui.
