5.4-magnitude quake hits Bengkulu’s Enggano Island

Jakarta (ANTARA) – A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Enggano Island in Bengkulu Province on Sunday morning, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.

The epicenter of the earthquake which struck at 06.34 a.m. local time was located 71 kilometers northwest of Enggano at a depth of 11 kilometers, the agency said on its official website.

The agency said the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

However, it asked local residents to stay alert for aftershocks.

No injury or casualty was reported.
