Lebak, Banten (ANTARA) – Flood submerged 422 homes in Lebak District, Banten Province, after Cipedang river overflowed its bank on Saturday.

By Saturday night the flood still inundated Cipedang Wanasalam residential area in Lebak, with the floodwater reaching up to 80 centimeters, acting chief of the Lebak District Mitigation Office (BPBD) Febby Rizky Pratama said.

Rescue workers evacuated affected people using an inflatable boat. They also distributed foodstuffs among flood victims.

“We hope that the flood victims’ food needs could be met,” he said.

The 422 flooded houses comprised 92 in Sinar Bakti, 102 in Suka Maju, 56 in Pakbar.and 60 in Cipedang Lio, and 14 in Bangkong Reang.

“The flooded houses spread in 11 neighborhood associations in Cipedang, Wanasalam village,” he said.

No injury or fatality was reported in the flood.
