Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) cooperated with state-owned radio station RRI to accelerate the dissemination of information and implementation of the war on drugs program.

The cooperation was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between BNN Head Petrus Reinhard Golose and President Director of RRI Hendrasmo.

“The strengthening of synergy between BNN and RRI is a strategic step to accelerate the Prevention and Eradication of Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics program or P4GN: War on Drugs,” he noted after signing the memorandum of understanding at the Yusuf Ronodipuro Auditorium at the RRI Building here on Wednesday.

The cooperation between BNN and RRI is being centered on the efforts to disseminate information, education, and advocacy about P4GN; support the publication of news about P4GN; increase the role of RRI in P4GN; conduct early detection of narcotics abuse and trafficking; and utilize each party’s resources.

Golose expressed optimism that the efforts to eradicate the abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotics and narcotic precursors can reach all levels of society, from cities to remote villages, in a bid to support the acceleration of the Desa Bersinar (Shining Village) Program or the Desa Bersih Narkoba (Drug-free Village).

“After the signing of this memorandum of understanding, I hope it can be followed up directly with technical steps by BNN and RRI, both at the central level and regional level,” the BNN head remarked.

On the occasion, Golose also extended praises to RRI and the media for being involved in disseminating information about programs run by BNN.

He expressed optimism that all elements of society can play an active role in addressing the narcotics problem in the country.

“Hopefully, this would be a good start to jointly play an active role in overcoming narcotics problems in Indonesia,” he remarked.
