Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted rainfall in a number of areas in Indonesia during Eid this year.

While making a presentation during a Working Meeting and Hearing Meeting with Commission V of the House of Representatives, which was accessed online from here on Wednesday, Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati showed areas where rain was predicted marked in red.

Rain is expected to occur from April 25 to May 1, 2022, in several areas such as Sumatra, East Java, Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

“On May 2-4, this red area began to shift to the west, in southern Sumatra, central Java, then in several areas of Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Eastern Indonesia is relatively safer, except in central Papua,” said Karnawati.

After Lebaran on May 4-10, the area that is expected to experience heavy rains will narrow to West Java, Banten, and South Sumatra to Lampung.

Then, if there are no tropical storms from April to May, the waves in Indonesian waters will not relatively be too high and reach a maximum height of one meter.

“The area in the Indian Ocean is quite dangerous. So, these areas need to be monitored carefully,” she said.

Karnawati asked residents to continue accessing the infoBMKG site, the official BMKG channel on YouTube, and various social media to get the latest information on weather forecasts.
