Jakarta (ANTARA) – Head of Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi confirmed that one-way, contraflow, and odd-even plate number restriction schemes will be implemented during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

“We have to make attempts to intervene to manage the road capacity,” Shantyabudi noted in a written statement here on Thursday.

He affirmed that the endeavor will be made by implementing a one-lane contraflow scheme.

However, if it does not work effectively, the police will apply a situational one-way scheme for vehicles traveling from Jakarta to Central Java, he stated.

In addition to the two schemes, the even-odd scheme will be applied to ensure the exodus runs well.

“Thus, we will apply the one-way and odd-even schemes concurrently,” the national traffic corps head emphasized.

Hence, Shantyabudi appealed to the public before leaving to ensure that only vehicles bearing an odd plate number should leave on a trip on odd number dates, and vice versa.

Furthermore, he said the police will implement the scheduled one-way scheme starting from April 28, 2022.

The scheme will be implemented during the homecoming trip period from kilometers (KM) 47 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to KM 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate on April 28, 2022, at 5 p.m.-12 a.m.; on April 29, 2022, at 7 a.m.-12 a.m.; on April 30, 2022, at 7 a.m.-12 a.m.; as well as on May 1, 2022, at 7 a.m.-12 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

Meanwhile, the policy will also be implemented during the return trip from KM 414 to KM 47 on May 6, 2022, at 2 p.m.-12 a.m. WIB.

In addition, the policy will be implemented from KM 414 to KM 3+500 at the Halim Toll Gate on May 7, 2022, at 7 a.m.-12 a.m.; as well as on May 8-9, 2022, at 7 a.m.-3 a.m. WIB.

Furthermore, the police may apply the situational one-way scheme from KM 442 at the Bawen Toll Gate depending on the current traffic at the time.
