Sleman, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) will offer a bonus of Rp500 million (US$33.6 thousand) to the national team on winning the final match of the 2022 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Cup.

“Thank God (for the achievement). We will give Rp500 million to the boys. It is in accordance with my promise to them,” General Chairperson of PSSI Mochamad Iriawan stated here on Friday.

Iriawan remarked that the Rp500-million bonus will complement the earlier incentives given to the U-16 national team.

Earlier, the squad had received a bonus of Rp100 million (US$6.7 thousand) for their success in reaching the semi-final of the tournament after defeating Vietnam 2-1 in the last match of Group A on August 6, 2022.

The chairperson of PSSI assessed that the U-16 national team deserved the bonuses since it had shown commendable performance throughout the tournament.

“For my boys, the U-16 national team, you had played brilliantly. It cannot be separated from the contribution of Coach Bima Sakti. You had given your best to the Indonesian people,” he remarked.
