Badung, Bali (ANTARA) – The community-based vocational training center (BLK Komunitas) was one of the ministry’s approaches to develop human resources as agreed by G20 members to encourage sustainable human resource development, Indonesian Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah stated.
“One of the approaches that we have agreed on was to increase the capacity and productivity of sustainable human resources through community-based vocational training,” Fauziyah noted during the opening of the G20 Labor and Employment Ministers’ Meeting (LEMM) in Bali, Wednesday.
The G20 LEMM, under Indonesia’s Sherpa Track, discusses issues related to capacity development of human resources for sustainable development and to boost productivity.
The meeting is attended by four manpower ministers from four permanent observer countries of the G20, five ministers of manpower from five countries as chairs of regional forums, seven leaders of international organizations, and five heads of G20 engagement.
The minister remarked that Indonesia had earlier implemented a community-based vocational training approach by building BLK Komunitas. The Manpower Ministry has built over two thousand BLK Komunitas across Indonesia.
In 2022, the Ministry of Manpower signed a cooperation agreement for the development of BLK Komunitas with 850 institutions. With the addition, the ministry will annually increase the vocational training output target of 232 thousand participants by maximizing the facilities and infrastructure of BLK Komunitas.
The importance of increasing competence was also highlighted by Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin. He said that community training was deemed crucial to face global challenges.
“We will support BLK Komunitas to help and improve the workers’ competitiveness,” he stated.
BLK Komunitas was also targeted to produce more entrepreneurs in the country, the vice president stated.
“We will encourage the establishment of BLK Komunitas to meet the needs of vocational training through collaboration among the government, the private sector, industry, and academia or higher education circles,” he remarked.
