Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Health has expanded the COVID-19 vaccination service to foreign nationals in Indonesia under the efforts to protect the community from the risk of virus transmission.
“This is one of our efforts to ensure foreign nationals, who live or stay temporarily and permanently, have easy access to vaccination as well as to prevent possible transmission,” the ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Syahril, noted in a written statement received here on Tuesday.
The policy is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.07/MENKES/1368/2022 concerning the Implementation of COVID-19 Vaccination for Foreigners, starting in September 2022, in various available health care facilities.
COVID-19 vaccination for foreign nationals is conducted under the government’s nationwide program targeting those, who have a limited stay permit (KITAS) or a permanent stay permit (KITAP).
Vaccination for representatives of foreign countries and international non-profit organizations that are currently on duty in Indonesia is conducted through coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, vaccination for other foreign nationals is conducted through registration in the one COVID-19 vaccination data information system to get an e-ticket that can be obtained from the www.pedulilindungi.id site.
The types of vaccine used are those that have received an emergency use authorization or a distribution permit number from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM).
“The implementation of this vaccination applies to foreigners that have not received vaccinations in their country at all, foreigners looking to continue their (primary) vaccination (series), and foreign nationals looking to get a booster,” Syahril explained.
The spokesperson remarked that the success of the implementation of the vaccination program is key to economic and tourism recovery at the national level. The more and faster people are protected, the swifter will be the economic recovery in the region.
