We want to bring real-time connection between the summit and the media center
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The media center for the G20 Summit in Bali is being prepared properly to meet the needs of mediapersons, Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate has said.
“So far, we are ready. However, technical matters continue to be considered and developed. The ministry will prepare a media center on November 10, 2022. The construction has begun at the Westin Hotel, Bali,” Plate informed in Cikarang, West Java, on Wednesday.
The media center will be equipped with tools to support journalists’ work, such as 192 computers, 192 LANs, a studio, a one-on-one room for broadcasting, and a media conference room, he said.
It will ensure the journalists’ convenience with the availability of advanced equipment and facilities and a high-security system as well, Plate added.
“Because this is a G20 event, the security will be tight. There will be 2,128 accredited journalists from Indonesia and other countries. As many as 413 media have been registered,” he disclosed.
Plate said that the media center will not be in the same area as the upcoming summit. Therefore, the ministry, along with fiber optic operators and cellular telecommunications operators, will work to ensure smooth connectivity.
“We want to bring real-time connection between the summit and the media center,” he added.
The ministry is also preparing a network with two TB capacity, supported by two international fiber optic networks, for smooth international communication.
Furthermore, 14 domestic fiber optic networks and 5 local fiber optics networks have been set up in Bali to support data transmission, especially for journalists.
The G20 Summit will be held on November 15-16 in Bali Province. President Joko Widodo recently said that Indonesia is ready to welcome guests at the prestigious event.
So far, 17 heads of state/heads of government have confirmed their attendance at the summit, including the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
