Wamena, Papua Highlands (ANTARA) – Indonesian border security troops have provided free medical services to remote communities in Tiom Subdistrict, Lanny Jaya District, Papua Highlands Province, as part of efforts to strengthen ties with residents.
Captain Ckm Dr. Alhamra, a doctor with the 511/DY Infantry Battalion Border Security Task Force, said the program aimed to bring the military closer to local communities.
“We conducted visits to residents’ homes followed by free health services for people in Tiom Subdistrict, Lanny Jaya,” Alhamra said in a statement from Wamena on Saturday.
He said the activity reflected the military’s commitment to improving public health in areas where troops are deployed.
Alhamra led the outreach by visiting homes, listening to residents’ concerns, conducting medical examinations, and providing free treatment.
The medical team treated residents with various complaints, including dizziness, leg pain, toothaches, and skin problems, he said.
“All patients received examinations, medication and health education based on their medical complaints,” Alhamra said.

He said the presence of troops in communities was not only focused on maintaining security but also providing solutions to residents’ challenges.
“Every soldier’s service should bring benefits to the people. Through medical services and community visits, we want residents to feel that the TNI is always present,” he said.
Alhamra added that the military remains committed to supporting communities in both difficult and favorable circumstances while contributing to a healthier, safer and more prosperous Papua.
He said residents welcomed the task force’s presence, appreciating both the free medical assistance and the opportunity to build closer relationships with military personnel.
The outreach was part of the task force’s social communication efforts to strengthen public trust and cooperation between soldiers and residents in remote areas.
The 511/DY Infantry Battalion Border Security Task Force is deployed to support security operations while carrying out community services in Papua Highlands.
