Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s transmigration policy transformation won Chinese support, with Ambassador Wang Lutong pledging assistance in regional and village development and poverty eradication sectors.

“We hope China-Indonesia relations continue to develop through mutually beneficial collaboration for our prosperity,” Wang stated in his remarks to send off participants of the 2026 Patriot Expedition by Indonesia’s Transmigration Ministry in Jakarta.

According to the Ministry’s statement received here on Monday, the Chinese envoy said the Patriot Expedition reflected Indonesia’s commitment to balanced regional growth and prosperity in areas targeted for transmigration.

The Chinese government is open to cooperation opportunities and exchanges with Indonesia in the sector, including by inviting leaders in transmigration destinations to study village development and regional revitalization in China.

An Indonesian delegation had visited Shanghai and Hubei in China to study poverty eradication and village revitalisation there, he noted.

Wang said the pledge of support in village and regional development is to follow up agreements set by presidents Prabowo Subianto and Xi Jinping during their bilateral encounters.

Moreover, China successfully eradicated extreme poverty in 2021 through targeted, collaborative approaches focused on capacity building and sustainability, he said, encouraging Indonesian stakeholders to learn from its experience.

The ambassador expressed hope the 2026 Patriot Expedition team could fulfill their obligations and contribute to the development of transmigration areas.
