Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia is prioritizing human capital development to transform transmigration areas into new engines of regional growth, National Development Planning Minister and head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy said.
Speaking at the launch of the Patriot Expedition 2026, Rachmat said people-centered development is essential to preparing future generations to drive change in communities while ensuring no one is left behind, according to a Bappenas statement released on Friday.
He said the approach aligns with the principles of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution and supports President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of inclusive national development through stronger and more equitable regional growth.
Rachmat said Indonesia’s transmigration policy has fundamentally changed from relocating people to developing regions by creating new economic growth centers, narrowing regional disparities, and improving living standards across the archipelago.
He said the government is also seeking to transform agriculture through downstream processing, innovation, and stronger research to raise the value of regional commodities and boost local economies.
Indonesian agricultural products, including coffee from Papua, have the potential to compete globally if supported by adequate research, technology, and product development, Rachmat said.
The Patriot Expedition supports the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan by strengthening talent development, expanding research, and encouraging community engagement to accelerate the transformation of transmigration areas.
The government expects the program to produce skilled human resources capable of unlocking regional potential, strengthening local development, and supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, he said.
Rachmat said leadership should be measured not only by the ability to lead oneself but also by the commitment to create positive change and contribute to national development.
He urged Patriot Expedition participants to prepare themselves as future leaders who can help develop their communities and play a meaningful role in advancing Indonesia’s long-term development goals
