Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani) has raised its medal target for the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, aiming to secure at least a silver medal after naming a 10-athlete roster for Japan.
“We want to get a silver. A silver means we have competed in the final,” said PB Perpani Secretary General Irawadi Hanafi in Jakarta on Monday, highlighting the team’s ambition to improve on its two bronze medals from the Hangzhou edition.
The squad comprises four male and six female archers competing across the recurve and compound categories, combining seasoned veterans with promising debutants currently training in Jakarta.
Although budget efficiency measures reduced the roster from an initial 12-athlete quota by dropping two compound archers, optimism remains high following Indonesia’s dominant performance at the 2025 SEA Games, where the team finished as overall champions with six gold medals.
“The level of competition between the SEA Games and the Asian Games is different, but that achievement boosts our athletes’ confidence,” Hanafi added, emphasizing that the team aims to breach the finals despite strong regional rivals.
Leading the charge in the recurve category is Olympian veteran Riau Ega Agata Salsabilah, alongside Alviyanto Bagas Prastyadi and Ahmad Khoirul Baasith on the men’s side.
The women’s recurve lineup features Southeast Asian Games standout Diananda Choirunisa, supported by Rezza Octavia and rising talent Fathiyya Erista Maharani.
The recurve division will be guided from the sidelines by coaches Hendra Setiawan and Rizki Ferdiansyah.
In the compound discipline, Indonesia fields a lean, targeted squad featuring lone male archer Sostar Andaru Rinaldi alongside a strong female trio: Ratih Zil’izati, Yurike Nina Bonita Pereira, and Nurisa Dian Ashrifah.
Legendary Indonesian archer Lilies Handayani anchors the compound coaching staff alongside Permadi Sandrawibowo.
Together, this ten-member roster heads into national training in Jakarta carrying the momentum of their 2025 SEA Games overall championship title, eyeing a breakthrough appearance in the Asian Games finals.
