Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian fighter Bilal Hasan secured a ticket to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) after defeating Indian contender Mridul Saikia by technical knockout (TKO) just 45 seconds into their bout in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Jakarta time.
In an Instagram post shared by UFC Indonesia, Hasan expressed his joy over the victory and thanked Indonesian fans for their support.
“God willing, we will fight at UFC very, very soon,” he said while conveying love for the Indonesian public.
Hasan faced Saikia in Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) Season 10 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, opening the fight with a low left kick.
Saikia responded with a kick of his own, but Hasan quickly seized the momentum with a powerful right overhand that knocked his opponent to the canvas.
The Indonesian fighter followed up with 10 seconds of incessant ground strikes, prompting the referee to stop the contest in the 45th second and award Hasan a TKO victory.
Wednesday’s win extended his unbeaten record to nine victories, including eight by knockout, along with one no-contest.
Hasan became only the second Indonesian to secure a UFC contract, following Jeka Saragih, who earned his place through Road to UFC in 2023.
UFC President and CEO Dana White praised Hasan’s performance, describing him as the “biggest favorite in the history of the Contender Series” and saying he had lived up to expectations.
“I’m excited about you. I’m excited to see your future, and I’m really pumped for your first fight in UFC. Welcome!” he told Hasan.
Also earning UFC contracts were Anthony Witt, who stopped Matt Adams by TKO in 34 seconds; Thomas Pagliarulo, who defeated Ananias Mulumba by third-round TKO; and Joe Kropschot, who claimed a unanimous decision over Jon Kunneman.
