Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto praised the judiciary on Friday, citing the Supreme Court’s faster case resolution and improved public access to the Constitutional Court.

Prabowo made the remarks during his State of the Nation Address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta.

He said the Supreme Court handled 38,148 cases in 2025 and issued rulings in 37,973, giving it a productivity rate of 99.54 percent.

Prabowo said 96.74 percent of Supreme Court cases were resolved within three months, the highest level of timeliness in the court’s history.

“This is the highest level of timeliness in the history of the Supreme Court. We commend the chief justice and the court’s staff,” Prabowo said.

The Constitutional Court handled 701 cases and petitions in 2025, including 334 disputes over regional election results, while adjudicating 598 cases and petitions, Prabowo said.

He also highlighted changes to the Constitutional Court’s services that have made constitutional proceedings more accessible to people across Indonesia.

As of July 23, 2026, 84.51 percent of petitions submitted to the Constitutional Court were filed online, reducing the need for people to travel to Jakarta.

“As of July 23, 2026, 84.51 percent of petitions were submitted online, so citizens from Aceh to Papua do not always have to come to Jakarta,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo also stressed the importance of judicial oversight. From January through June 2026, the Judicial Commission received 1,402 public complaints and 622 requests to monitor trials.

The Judicial Commission proposed sanctions against 121 judges for ethical violations, including 14 moderate sanctions and 17 severe sanctions.

“We must uphold the rule of law and judicial independence,” Prabowo said.

The MPR, House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) held their annual and joint sessions in Jakarta on Friday.

The agenda included Prabowo’s presentation of state institutions’ performance reports and his State of the Nation Address marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

The annual session was held under the theme “A Sovereign, Just and Prosperous Indonesia,” reflecting the government’s vision for national development.
