Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia and China agreed to deepen trade and investment partnerships, strengthen manufacturing cooperation, and contribute to an international artificial intelligence (AI) organisation to achieve ambitious development goals.
Those were the outcome of the inaugural Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue (CSD) in Jakarta on Friday (August 21), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated in a joint statement with his Indonesian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sugiono.
Wang Yi said Indonesia and China agreed to maintain strategic autonomy, support mutual interests, and coordinate development and security collaboration.
“Indonesia-China cooperation will give a strong guarantee for the modernisation of the two countries. We also agreed to launch the China-Indonesia Action Plan for the 2027-2030 period,” Wang Yi said, adding that the action plan will be important for Indonesia.
The two countries were committed building partnership for comprehensive and open green energy resource development that serves mutual interest.

According to him, Indonesia and China agreed to strengthen energy and mineral partnerships through the establishment of the “China-Indonesian Energy Forum” supporting Indonesia optimise its natural resources to boost industrialisation.
Indonesia and China also agreed to strengthen partnerships in food and agriculture technology, poverty eradication, and food resilience, as well as health, education, and exchange between their younger generation.
“Besides bolstering the prosperity of the people in the two countries, our partnership is also committed to providing a just, transparent, and proper business environment for Chinese companies,” he said.
In the maritime sector, Indonesia and China agreed to resume fishery cooperation and expedite the maritime joint development while pushing for the completion of the code of conduct (CoC) in the South China Sea for regional peace and security.
“We will expedite maritime partnership, including the joint development. We will stick to the terms about the South China Sea and work to complete the consensus on the South China Sea as soon as possible,” Wang Yi remarked.
