NTT transport repairs expedited following Flores quake, minister says

“We are starting to repair terminals, airports, and ports affected by the earthquake in NTT,” the minister stated on Friday.

He noted that while several transportation facilities sustained damage, the impact was generally minor, and repairs are progressing in stages to resume public transit operations.

Purwagandhi confirmed that priority is being given to damaged sections with cracks or debris to ensure facilities can quickly resume operations and serve affected communities.

The government is expediting repairs at affected terminals, airports, and ports in coordination with relevant agencies to accelerate recovery and support local needs, he added.

He emphasized that repairing transportation infrastructure is critical to maintaining regional connectivity, supporting public mobility, and ensuring the smooth delivery of post-disaster aid.

However, he assured that facility damage has not disrupted logistics flows, with essential supplies continuing to move smoothly across NTT.

Land distribution was temporarily disrupted by landslides that blocked access routes to several quake-affected areas in Flores.

To bypass blocked roads, the ministry promoted sea transport to maintain access to isolated areas.

Purwagandhi added that the geography of Flores allows logistics to be rerouted by sea to ensure uninterrupted distribution to local communities.
