Prabowo’s diplomacy raises Indonesia’s global profile: analyst

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Political analyst Bawono Kumoro from Indikator Politik Indonesia said President Prabowo Subianto’s foreign diplomacy has raised Indonesia’s profile and strengthened its standing among countries worldwide.

Prabowo’s attendance at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (Sept. 3) as a guest of honor at President Vladimir Putin’s invitation had drawn global attention, Kumoro argued.

“Whether we like it or not, Indonesia under President Prabowo Subianto has become far more active internationally, making it increasingly respected by other countries,” Kumoro said in Jakarta on Friday.

The forum, held on September 1-4, carries the theme “The Far East: Development for the Benefit of the People” and brings together government officials, business leaders, and experts from Russia and other countries.

Indonesia’s greater international engagement not only raises its global profile, but also gives the government opportunities to advance national interests on the international stage.

Prabowo, Kumoro added, brings strategic plans for cooperation across various sectors during each state visit with the countries he visits.

During his EEF visit to Russia, Prabowo also brought strategic agendas to develop cooperation in defense and security, the economy, climate change, and other areas.

“Indonesia’s national interests are always brought by President Prabowo during state visits and international diplomacy, so they can be pursued more effectively internationally,” he said.

Prabowo delivered a keynote speech as the main guest of honor at the 11th EEF on Thursday, as previously reported.

The forum is one of Russia’s platforms for strengthening economic cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries through trade, investment, and energy cooperation.

Prabowo’s visit also formed part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the economic sector.

At the forum, Prabowo said Indonesia would continue pursuing an independent and active foreign policy, determining its own national interests while actively contributing to global peace.

Prabowo also said Indonesia attended last year’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum to make friends and had returned to Russia for the 11th EEF to turn those friendships into pragmatic results.
