Jakarta (ANTARA) – Head of the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakom RI) Syahganda Nainggolan said President Prabowo Subianto had instructed the agency to make government communication a tool for national unity.
“The President’s instruction was about how communication can become a tool for national unity,” Syahganda said after being inaugurated as head of Bakom RI at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
Syahganda said he would direct all agency personnel to implement the President’s instruction to ensure that development messages and the President’s key ideas are conveyed transparently and inclusively to all segments of Indonesian society.
According to Syahganda, the main task of the agency he leads is to safeguard the nation’s narrative and civilization. This would be pursued through intensive dialogue between the government and members of the press.
“Essentially, it is about communication and narratives. So, the Government Communication Agency is certainly here to safeguard our civilization,” he said.
He added that Bakom RI would make the most of opportunities for discussions with journalists. The two-way dialogue is expected to facilitate the flow of information from the government to the public and vice versa.
“Dialogue between the government and our media colleagues can ultimately convey the government’s messages to the public and bring the public’s messages back to the government,” Syahganda said.
Syahganda also expressed his commitment to working with his deputy, Fadli Tri Hartono, to carry out their duties effectively.
President Prabowo inaugurated Syahganda as head of Bakom RI and Fadli as deputy head in Jakarta on Friday, based on Presidential Decree No. 106/P/2026 on the appointment of the head and deputy head of the Government Communication Agency, issued on October 1, 2026.
