Aid totaling 1,954 tons distributed to NTT quake victims, BNPB says

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that a total of 1,954 tons of aid had been delivered to communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“Almost all of the aid we received has been distributed. The total aid received from August 15 to 30, 2026, reached 1,953,849 kilograms, or approximately 1,954 tons,” BNPB Acting Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Berton SP Panjaitan said at a press conference on Sunday (August 30).

According to him, the distribution of logistical aid had reached 98.39 percent, with the supplies distributed through NTT earthquake aid distribution centers in Maumere and Labuan Bajo.

“More than 1,900 tons of logistics were sent through various channels. Some 565 tons were distributed by air by the Indonesian Air Force, 1,065 tons from the Ready-to-Use Fund (DSP), 179 tons by ship, and 145 tons by land or truck,” Panjaitan said.

In addition, the agency dispatched another 21 tons of aid by air on Sunday from the Halim Perdanakusuma National Logistics Support Post in East Jakarta.

“The aid was bound for Labuan Bajo and reportedly arrived at 8:57 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB). It included basic food packages, medicines, instant noodles, mineral water, rice, toiletries, baby kits, clothing for children and adults, and stationery,” Panjaitan said.

Based on BNPB records, the number of earthquake evacuees in NTT decreased by 4,142 from the previous day. As of August 30, the number of evacuees stood at 188,161.

“The largest concentration of evacuees is in Manggarai District, with 50,556 people, and Nagekeo District, with 50,574 people,” he said.

Panjaitan added that other districts with large numbers of evacuees included East Manggarai, West Manggarai, Ngada, Sikka, and Ende.

As of August 28, the death toll from the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on Flores Island, NTT, remained at 111, while thousands of aftershocks continued to rattle the area.

Manggarai District reported the highest number of fatalities, at 45, followed by East Manggarai with 38 and Nagekeo with 13, out of a total of 111 deaths.
