Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – Police in Denpasar have uncovered the motive of a 41-year-old Australian man for damaging a glass billboard in Pecatu, Badung District, Bali Province.
“The motive was stress over family problems, which caused him to lose control of his emotions,” Denpasar Police Spokesperson First Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya said here Thursday.
The incident occurred at Gabet’s Pub Restaurant & Karaoke in Pecatu, South Kuta Subdistrict, at about 1:25 p.m. local time on Tuesday, September 8.
According to CCTV footage, JDB initially threw the drink he was carrying before going to the front of Gabet’s Pub and causing a disturbance.
He then threw a rock at the glass billboard belonging to the establishment, shattering it. Afterward, JDB left the scene on a black Yamaha XMAX motorcycle.
The incident was subsequently reported to South Kuta police.
Criminal investigators from South Kuta police investigated the incident by visiting the scene, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing CCTV footage.
Police identified JDB and arrested him at about 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday, September 9.
“During questioning, he admitted damaging the glass billboard and throwing his drink,” Adi said.
Police said JDB told investigators that family problems had triggered his actions and caused him to lose emotional control.
JDB also admitted he was at fault and apologized to the management of Gabet’s Pub Restaurant & Karaoke.
Police then facilitated a settlement between JDB and the establishment’s management. Both sides agreed to resolve the matter amicably and reached a settlement.
