Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Ngurah Rai Immigration Office detained four foreigners suspected of violating their stay permits during a joint operation in Canggu, Bali, the immigration office said.
Ngurah Rai Immigration chief Muhammad Novyandri said the four were three men — one Egyptian, MSI, and two Russians, EZM and AA — and a Nigerian woman, PGA.
“Three foreign nationals detained are suspected of misusing their stay permits by performing as disc jockeys (DJs) at a nightclub in Canggu,” he said here Saturday.
MSI, the Egyptian national, held a Visa on Arrival (VOA), while the two Russians held a VOA and an investor Temporary Stay Permit (ITAS), respectively.
The Nigerian woman, PGA, was detained for overstaying her visa by 402 days, Novyandri said.
“The four foreign nationals are now undergoing further examination of their stay permits and immigration documents at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office,” he said.
The joint operation was conducted on Thursday night (Sept. 24) with the Bali Immigration Directorate General office, National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Military Police Detachment (Denpom), municipal police, and Denpasar police.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts to maintain immigration order in Bali, Novyandri said.
“Strict supervision is not merely about enforcement, but also ensuring every stay permit granted by the state is used for its intended purpose, creating a safe and orderly environment for residents and tourists in Bali,” he said.
Novyandri said his office was committed to following Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko’s directive that immigration authorities should protect, serve, and provide tangible benefits to the public.
“This is the spirit we continue to uphold, the spirit of Immigration for the People,” he said.
Previously, authorities conducted an immigration operation on Thursday night (Sept. 17) in Canggu, Seminyak, and Umalas, detaining 13 foreigners for immigration violations.
Of those 13 foreigners, 12 were women and one was a man. The women were suspected of misusing their stay permits to work as sex workers booked through WhatsApp.
