Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – The Bali Regional Police recorded 161 cases involving foreign nationals as perpetrators throughout 2026, involving a total of 182 individuals.

The data was presented by Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya during a visit by Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to the Bali Police headquarters in Denpasar on Friday.

Adityajaya said cases involving foreign nationals were among the criminal issues closely monitored by the Bali Police as part of efforts to maintain security and public order in Bali. The Bali Police also recorded 218 cases involving foreign nationals as victims throughout 2026, involving 239 individuals.

“Limitations in personnel and facilities and infrastructure are something we continually evaluate. The Bali Police are mapping needs in a measurable manner and improving personnel competency to ensure optimal service and law enforcement to the public,” Adityajaya said.

Overall, the Bali Police recorded 5,541 cases in 2024, increasing to 5,758 cases in 2025. Throughout 2026, the police received 4,309 cases, of which 2,390 had been resolved, representing approximately 55 percent.

For general crimes, Adityajaya said the most prominent offenses in 2026 included ordinary theft, assault, and embezzlement. Special crimes included cases related to oil and gas, animal quarantine, and trademarks.

He said the Bali Police had also continued to strengthen efforts to combat narcotics trafficking. The three largest narcotics seizures recorded in 2026 comprised 45.6 kilograms of marijuana, 28.1 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 7.7 kilograms of cocaine.

In his presentation, Adityajaya also outlined the availability of investigator personnel. Of the 2,009 investigators and assistant investigators considered necessary, only 1,684 are currently available, leaving a shortfall of 325 personnel.

Despite the personnel shortage, the Bali Police continue to strengthen investigators’ capacity through education and specialized training, workshops, certification, and competency development.

The visit by Commission III of the DPR RI continued with discussions on various law enforcement challenges in Bali, including crime developments, case resolution, foreign national involvement, personnel readiness, and investigative infrastructure.
