Jakarta (ANTARA) – A Balinese Hindu temple was consecrated on August 5 at the Bali Indah cultural complex in the Dolina Charlotty Resort & Spa near Słupsk, northern Poland, according to the Polish Embassy.
“This is a remarkable example of how culture can build bridges between Indonesia and Poland. Thousands of kilometers may separate our countries, but projects such as Bali Indah bring our people and traditions closer together,” Polish Ambassador to Indonesia Barbara Szymanowska said in a press statement on Tuesday (Aug 18).
The Melaspas consecration ceremony was led by Balinese priest Sri Bhagawan Putra Natha Nawa Wangsa Pemayun, who travelled from Bali, marking the Vishnu Temple’s transition into a fully consecrated sacred space.
Attendees included Polish Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka, Member of Parliament Krzysztof Gadowski as Chairman of the Polish-Indonesian Parliamentary Friendship Group, and representatives of the Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw.
Held as part of the Charlotta Bali Spirit Festival, the event also featured the opening of a pavilion dedicated to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), showcasing the culture and heritage of Flores, Sumba, and Timor, attended by NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena.
“The new NTT Pavilion offers Polish and European visitors an opportunity to discover the incredible richness of the wider Indonesian archipelago. I am particularly delighted to welcome the Governor – it is a great honour for us,” Szymanowska added.
Bali Indah is the initiative of Mirosław Wawrowski, the complex’s director and Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Gdańsk, developed together with Indonesian and Polish partners as Europe’s largest Balinese cultural complex.
The complex features traditional Balinese architecture, exhibition spaces, performances, and workshops built with Indonesian artists and craftsmen, overseen in 2024 by then-Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno, with Culture Minister Fadli Zon attending its official inauguration in June 2025.
Organisers envision Bali Indah as a long-term platform for cultural exchange, tourism, education, and business cooperation between Indonesia, Poland, and the wider European continent.
