Jakarta (ANTARA) – National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Head Sudaryono has affirmed that a Hygiene and Sanitation Feasibility Certificate (SLHS) is an absolute requirement for meal kitchens (SPPG) operating under the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

He stressed that the SLHS should not be seen as a formality or merely an administrative requirement, as the certification serves as a means of ensuring that kitchens operating under the MBG program meet cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation standards before serving food to beneficiaries.

“This SLHS is not an administrative requirement; it is an absolute requirement,” Sudaryono said in an official statement received here on Saturday.

For SPPG units that are already operating but have not yet obtained an SLHS, BGN has set August 10, 2026, as the final deadline to complete the certification process.

“We are giving a final opportunity until August 10 to complete the SLHS process through the health offices of each district and city,” he said.

Sudaryono added that the hygiene and sanitation assessment would determine whether an SPPG could continue operating. If an MBG kitchen is deemed to have failed to meet the requirements, it will not be allowed to continue operating.

He said the firm measure was necessary because the SLHS is directly related to food safety, public health, and the safety of MBG program beneficiaries.

So far, BGN has received reports on around 950 kitchens suspected of failing to meet hygiene and sanitation standards. BGN will conduct further verification to assess the condition of each kitchen before deciding which SPPG units must be permanently shut down.

At the same time, BGN acknowledged that differences in the speed of service and response across regions could affect the certificate issuance process.

To address this, BGN has sent a circular to its regional offices instructing them to provide assistance and administrative support to SPPG managers who need help fulfilling the SLHS requirements.

“I have sent a circular to BGN’s regional offices to provide assistance and administrative support when needed as part of the SLHS processing requirements at the health offices of each district and city,” he said.
