Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) received tens of tons of relief supplies from the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the Jakarta provincial government to aid quake-hit communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Acting Head of BNPB’s Center for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Berton Panjaitan described the aid mobilization as a testament to strong synergy between the central government and other institutions in meeting basic needs following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake.
In a statement cited on Friday, Panjaitan noted that TNI AU Chief of Staff Marshal Tonny Harjono symbolically handed over supplies weighing 34.38 tons to BNPB Deputy for Logistics and Equipment Andi Eviana.
He added that 17 tons of the shipment, comprising staple goods, rice, tarpaulins, and garments, have been transported to NTT, while the remainder is being kept as buffer stock.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung was present during the ceremony to symbolically entrust BNPB with logistics collected by his administration for quake-affected residents in NTT.
Multiple institutions contributed to the logistics, with the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) raising 1,750 packages of ready-to-eat meals, biscuits, and mineral water, alongside 4,000 beds, blankets, family kits, tarpaulins, sacks, and children’s kits.
The Jakarta Social Affairs Office provided mineral water, food packages, tarpaulins, and roll-up tents, while the Jakarta Health Office brought 500 bottles each of NaCl, Ringer’s lactate solution, and D40 IV fluids, along with 50 bottles of 15-milliliter antiseptic solution.
The Jakarta branch of the National Alms Agency (Baznas) also raised relief supplies, including 150 cartons of rendang, 75 cartons each of canned fish and corned beef, and 50 cartons each of biscuits, baby porridge, instant porridge, and instant noodles.
PAM Jaya, Jakarta’s public drinking water service, provided 200 water tanks with a capacity of 300 liters each to support safe water access in affected areas.
