BRIN unveils three-track strategy for Golden Indonesia 2045

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria on Thursday outlined a three-track strategy to help Indonesia boost its economy and achieve its Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

Leading a delegation of 150 BRIN researchers at a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta, he said the first track focuses on innovations to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

On the second track, Satria emphasized the importance of intensifying research and innovation to strengthen national industries and support Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara.

He then elaborated on the third track, underlining BRIN’s commitment to enabling Indonesia to participate in the co-development of frontier technologies with international partners.

The BRIN chief cited semiconductors, artificial intelligence, genomics, quantum computing, nuclear technology, and space technology as critical drivers of Indonesia’s competitiveness, self-reliance, territorial oversight, and productivity over the next two to three decades.

Highlighting self-reliance, he affirmed that the approach is necessary for Indonesia to strengthen its food and energy security while meeting its needs in the agriculture, health, and pharmaceutical sectors independently.

Satria went on to stress that research and innovation would play a decisive role in Indonesia’s long-term economic growth.

“Experiences of developed countries show a positive correlation between innovation capacity, reflected in the Global Innovation Index, and annual per capita GDP,” he stated.

During the forum, President Prabowo argued that mastering science and technology is key for any nation to achieve progress, which, in turn, requires high-quality human resources.

In this context, the head of state underscored the importance of prioritizing education, which he described as “the most critical foundation” for national development.
