Cianjur, W Java (ANTARA) – Cianjur’s Transportation Agency in West Java received 120 electric rickshaws donated by President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday for distribution to eligible rickshaw drivers in the district.
The number exceeds the initial list of 80 verified recipients, said Sri Mulyani Rahayu, head of the agency’s transportation division.
“We proposed about 80 potential recipients, but the National Solidarity Movement Foundation conducted field surveys, resulting in 120 electric rickshaws,” Sri said.
The distribution date has not been set, pending a schedule from the foundation. The rickshaws will first receive identification stickers, while prospective recipients will undergo training.
After receiving the initial list from Cianjur’s Transportation Agency, the foundation conducted additional data collection and field surveys, increasing the number of prospective recipients to 120.
The program is part of President Prabowo’s nationwide distribution of 70,000 electric rickshaws to regencies and cities across Indonesia, including Cianjur.
In West Java, Sukabumi and Cianjur have received the assistance but have yet to distribute the rickshaws. Cirebon, however, has already distributed them to recipients.
“Recipients are prioritized among rickshaw drivers over 55, based on field surveys. Once training schedules are issued, the rickshaws will be distributed,” she said.
Sri said the electric rickshaws were expected to ease the burden on drivers who still use conventional rickshaws, potentially increasing their incomes and improving their livelihoods.
