We can implement and realize cultural development mandated in Law No. 5 of 2017 if we do it together

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Culture can be the solution to various life problems in sustainable development, according to the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry .

“We can implement and realize cultural development mandated in Law No. 5 of 2017 if we do it together,” the ministry’s official, Judi Wahjudin, said during the inauguration of the Nusantara Cultural Arts Committee Central Board here on Friday.

One of the issues currently being discussed in the G20 Presidency is the effort to encourage culture to provide contribution to addressing problems, in terms of work, life, and social-economic issues in society, he said.

An example of this involves the COVID-19 pandemic that brings out old habits and local cultural values within the people.

During the pandemic, several people once again believe that traditional drinks, such as jamu, can maintain a healthy body.

The other role that culture plays during the pandemic concerns several media or public facilities that provide historical stories or traditional music as a form of entertainment.

This provides a clear picture that culture can be collaborated with various existing resources within a nation. It does not only exist as a source of education or protection of a nation’s founding, Wahjudin affirmed.

Culture can also be developed and utilized to boost the people’s prosperity in developing a sustainable life by being led by the nation’s successors, who are knowledgeable and love their country’s cultural heritage.

“Insya Allah (God willing) because Indonesia’s DNA is the culture. This has always been conveyed by our president. All that is left is how we can collaborate it with these resources,” he remarked.

He believes the existence of the Nusantara Cultural Arts Committee (KSBN) promotes cooperation with all parties to develop the nation through Indonesia’s cultural beauty and value.

He lauded KSBN members, who have been inaugurated as part of the Center Board (DPP) for the 2022-2027 period.

He expects that cultural dissemination undertaken by KSBN can be strengthened and improved upon, so that it can serve as an example for sustainable development through culture for the international world.

“We expect that the presence of KSBN can strengthen the cultural ecosystem,” he noted.
