Pekalongan, Central Java (ANTARA) – Diversity among the nation’s elements would be an outstanding means of defending and preserving the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Indonesian Navy’s (TNI AL’s) Doctrine, Education and Training Development Command stated.

“Our people comprise various elements. Our nation consists of diverse ethnic groups, cultures, religious faiths, and other differences that exist in our homeland,” TNI AL Doctrine, Education and Training Development Commander Marine Lieutenant General Suhartono stated here, Saturday.

While presiding over the Red-and-White and Oath for Indonesia Rally at the city’s Mataram Field, he said that instead of weakening the country, diversity among the people would strengthen the nation.

The lieutenant general expressed gratitude that the rally event to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad was taking place smoothly.

He also expressed hope that people from various groups and elements would unite to maintain and defend the independence of the Indonesian nation.

“We expect that from the Red-and-White and Oath for Indonesia Rally, differences would no longer be perceived as a weakness, but instead, as a huge potential for us, just like how the youth in the past agreed to unite to achieve the same goal: an independent Indonesia,” Suhartono stated.

As Indonesia has achieved its independence, the younger generation must now live with the spirit to fight for Indonesian unity and national development, the naval education agency commander remarked.

“The youth is the nation’s backbone to achieve the glory of Indonesia. Hence, I encourage all elements to unite, work together, respect and be tolerant of each other,” he noted.
