Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported the distribution of 62,000 liters of safe water to residents facing drought in North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan.
Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Beton Panjaitan stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that hundreds of residential areas had been experiencing drought since early this week.
For example, he cited a clean water shortage affecting around 456 households in Babulu Village, Sebakung Jaya Sub-district.
Panjaitan noted that the local disaster mitigation agency had prepared emergency measures amid the dry conditions, including gradually distributing safe water to meet residents’ daily needs.
He emphasized that BNPB would continue monitoring the situation in East Kalimantan, urging regional governments to optimize raw water sources and deploy water tanker trucks to communities severely affected by the drought.
