Education, economy gains mark Banten’s 26th anniversary

Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) – Banten Governor Andra Soni said several strategic development achievements focused on improving community quality of life, especially in education and the economy, are a gift for the 26th anniversary of Banten Province.

“In the infrastructure sector, the provincial government recorded the construction of 61 village road sections and one bridge totaling 71 kilometers in 2025,” he said in a written statement received here on Sunday.

Soni explained that in the education sector, the provincial government has inaugurated seven new schools, comprising two senior high schools, four vocational high schools, and one special school, with a total capacity of up to 1,356 students.

According to him, improvements also targeted seven irrigation areas spanning 6.90 kilometers to irrigate 448.15 hectares of farmland. To realize healthy and safe housing, the government has renovated 389 uninhabitable houses.

“Housing infrastructure development was also accelerated through the completion of 407.43 kilometers of neighborhood roads, 75 kilometers of drainage, and 10 integrated health service posts,” he stated.

In the health sector, the provincial government strengthened service capacity through the inauguration of new facilities at Malingping, Irsyad Djuwaeli Labuan, and Uwes Qorny Cilograng regional general hospitals.

Besides regional programs, Banten has also actively contributed to the success of national priority programs.

“A total of seven Sekolah Rakyat are operating, while four educational units have been designated as Garuda Transformation Excellence Senior High Schools through the Garuda School program,” he elaborated.

He also revealed that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in Banten now reaches around 3.5 million beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Free Health Check-up (CKG) program has enabled 7.2 million Banten residents to receive free health examinations at various health facilities.

Grassroots economic activity has also been boosted through the establishment of 1,551 Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP), 694 of which have been operating as of September 2026, as well as the Red and White Fishing Village Program in 15 coastal villages.

“Regional connectivity has also been strengthened through the construction of nine road sections under the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads (IJD) program,” Soni noted.
