Education Minister warns schools not to manipulate data to get aid

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has warned education units against manipulating data on the condition of their schools merely to secure funding under school revitalization and learning digitalization programs.

He stressed that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) remains committed to ensuring that funding for the two programs is distributed to schools that genuinely need it.

“Please do not report facilities as damaged, or deliberately damage them, simply because you are seeking funding assistance,” Mu’ti said while opening a central and regional coordination meeting on the School Revitalization and Learning Digitalization Programs in Central Jakarta on Friday.

He said data validity is key to ensuring that all assistance provided by the ministry reaches schools in need and meets the established criteria.

The ministry is also working to ensure accountability and proper targeting of the school revitalization and learning digitalization programs in an effort to reduce public criticism of their implementation.

Therefore, Mu’ti urged all education offices and schools to provide accurate data on damage and their respective needs as a basis for implementing school revitalization programs in the current and following years.

“We ask for your support in providing valid data so that we can reduce the amount of criticism voiced by the public in the public sphere, particularly from a new community called netizens, regarding the implementation of these programs,” Mu’ti said.

He added that President Prabowo Subianto had repeatedly announced plans to allocate funding to revitalize 100,000 education units in the 2027 fiscal year.

According to Mu’ti, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has also sought budgetary support for the plan with the House of Representatives’ Commission X as part of efforts to improve educational facilities and infrastructure more evenly across the country.

“In 2027, the president has said several times that he will allocate funding for 100,000 education units,” Mu’ti said.

He expressed hope that accurate data from regional governments and schools would help the ministry identify schools that should be prioritized for revitalization and learning digitalization.
