Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto described the state visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Indonesia as an important milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, which was agreed upon in April 2025.
“Through intensive and productive discussions, Your Excellency’s visit this time marks an important milestone in strengthening our partnership,” Prabowo said in a joint statement with El-Sisi at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday.
Prabowo said El-Sisi’s agenda was a reciprocal visit following his state visits to Egypt in 2024 and 2025.
During Prabowo’s visit to Egypt last year, he said the two leaders had agreed to elevate Indonesia-Egypt relations to a strategic partnership.
Prabowo said efforts to strengthen the partnership should be translated into concrete cooperation that delivers tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
During Sunday’s meeting, the two leaders discussed various issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
Several cooperation agreements were reached during the visit, covering maritime affairs and fisheries, investment, the defense industry, education, trade and the economy, as well as an action plan for the strategic partnership.
