ESDM Ministry provides aid, services for NTT quake survivors

Nagekeo, NTT (ANTARA) -Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry has stepped up its earthquake relief efforts in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) by delivering essential aid and services to survivors in Nagekeo District.

“Today, as part of the commemoration of the 81st Mining and Energy Day, the ESDM Ministry is carrying out a community service activity for earthquake victims in NTT,” said Rudy Sufahriadi, head of the ministry’s Disaster Response Task Force, in Labolewa Village, Nagekeo, on Wednesday.

He explained that the initiative included the distribution of 1,000 packages of staple commodities and free health check-ups for local residents.

“We are here to distribute basic necessities and provide free health screenings to residents. We hope this initiative will benefit the community and help people maintain their health,” Sufahriadi said.

The ministry extended its relief effort beyond the Labolewa community, distributing 335 school uniforms, 229 pairs of shoes, a laptop, a speaker, and five microphones to an elementary school and a junior high school in Anakoli Village, Wolowae Sub-district.

The activity also included a visit to Aeramo Regional General Hospital (RSUD), which is continuing recovery efforts following the magnitude-7.7 earthquake that struck several districts on Flores Island in mid-August.

As Nagekeo’s only RSUD, the facility is still providing medical services from emergency tents.

Leading the ministry’s delegation, Sufahriadi delivered 200 packages of basic necessities and met with healthcare workers and residents during the visit.

“I am convinced that the people of NTT are resilient and blessed with remarkable patience,” he said.

He added that the government recognizes the need for sustained support to help survivors rebuild their lives and communities in the aftermath of the disaster.
