Gov’t extends rice food aid through December: Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan affirmed that rice food aid will continue through December 2026 after the government approved an additional allocation of one million tons of rice for the October-December period.

The additional allocation follows the disbursement of food aid for the July-September 2026 period, under which each recipient received 10 kilograms of rice per month.

“So those who have received rice totaling 30 kg by September will receive it again for the next three months – October, November, and December. The President has approved this,” Hasan said in a statement here on Friday.

He made the remarks while reviewing the distribution of food aid in Kediri, East Java, on Thursday (September 10).

During his review at Gogorante Village Hall in Ngasem Sub-district, Kediri District, 12,000 kg of rice was distributed to 400 recipients.

The recipients were residents of Gogorante Village, including online motorcycle taxi drivers and orphans. Each recipient received 30 kg of rice at once, representing the accumulated assistance of 10 kg each for July, August, and September 2026.

To ensure that the most vulnerable households receive support quickly during the lean season, the government is accelerating aid distribution, specifically targeting households in decile 1, representing the poorest 10 percent of the population, through decile 4, representing the bottom 40 percent overall.

In addition to food aid, the government is preparing to distribute one million tons of rice through the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program, along with 150,000 tons of SPHP corn for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) livestock farmers.

The government is also auctioning 380 thousand tons of rice as raw material for the rice flour industry at a minimum price of Rp11,000 per kg.
