Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government has integrated the SATUSEHAT health data platform with the Population Administration Information System (SIAK) to facilitate the digital issuance of birth certificates, family cards, and maternal and child health cards for newborns.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said here on Tuesday that the integration, carried out with the Home Affairs Ministry, was a response to difficulties in tallying newborns due to inconsistent data across agencies.
“So the immunization team, the maternal and child birth team, and the stunting team all have different data. I am confused too about how many babies were actually born. Not to mention compared with the General Elections Commission (KPU),” he said.
Sadikin expressed hope that the integrated system would make it easier to issue birth certificates for the roughly 13,000 babies born every day, or about 4.8 million newborns per year.
Going forward, Sadikin said, SATUSEHAT will also be integrated with data and systems at the Religious Affairs Ministry for death records, the Social Affairs Ministry for aid recipient data, and state health insurer BPJS Kesehatan for health coverage.
At the same event, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said the move aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s policy direction on government digitalization, e-government, and the use of information technology.
Karnavian said population data is the most dynamic type of data, since people are born, die, relocate, marry, and divorce every minute. He said this data is compiled by population and civil registration offices (Dukcapil) across 514 districts and cities.
He praised Sadikin’s idea, saying the integration would simplify birth certificate registration and issuance, sparing families repeated trips to process documents while helping prevent illegal levies.
Certificates would be issued directly by the health facility where the baby was born, either as a digital document emailed to parents or in printed form.
“This really helps the public. Just imagine, back in our parents’ generation, when we were born, our parents had to go door to door asking for signatures from neighborhood and village heads, and sometimes those people weren’t even around,” he said.
