Govt prepares 71 sites as pilots for Village Quantum empowerment model

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions is preparing 71 pilot villages to implement its “Village Quantum” empowerment model, aiming to accelerate rural development and boost village self-reliance.

According to Rosyid Althaf, secretary of the ministry’s Human Resources Development and Empowerment Agency, the 71 pilot sites will be selected from a pool of 211 villages that internal analysis shows have already made significant leaps in their development status.

“We are testing this in 71 of those 211 villages to serve as pilots,” Rosyid said in the Pos Depan podcast, monitored online in Jakarta on Monday.

He further explained that Village Quantum is an empowerment model designed to accelerate changes in a village’s development status by optimizing available resources through collaboration and concrete action.

Rosyid noted that the pilot villages – set to be announced this October – are not only meant to demonstrate successful local development, but also to share best practices with villages that have lower development status.

“As part of the learning process, if a village needs guidance, it can visit one of these quantum villages,” he said.

He explained that the strategies of villages that successfully upgraded their status will be studied to identify key empowerment steps, program interventions, and facilitators’ roles behind their progress.

The results, he added, will be compiled into the Village Quantum book series along with facilitation guidelines and regulatory frameworks to serve as a reference for village development.

Rosyid added that village facilitators are expected to play a central role in the program by serving as a bridge for various government initiatives, ensuring development interventions create a tangible impact for local communities.

He expressed hope that self-reliant villages will serve as learning hubs for neighboring areas, allowing successful empowerment practices to be adopted more broadly.
