House conducts fit and proper tests for 25 ambassadorial candidates

Jakarta (ANTARA) -The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), through Commission I, has begun fit and proper tests for 25 government-nominated candidates for ambassadorial posts in several countries and international organisations.

Speaking at the Parliament Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, Deputy Chair of Commission I Anton Sukartono said the assessments would run for two days through Wednesday (Sept 23).

He added the results would later be submitted to the House leaders, noting such tests typically end in approval as candidates had already undergone rigorous screening by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Even so, Sukartono emphasised the House does not rule out the possibility of rejecting a candidate if concerns over propriety arise or if adverse public reports emerge during the process.

“Such a situation usually does not unfold, because the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s screening process is remarkably rigorous,” the lawmaker said, expressing confidence in the quality of the 25 candidates.

The 25 individuals undergoing fit and proper tests are as follows:
