Indonesia certifies solar energy assessors to support 100 GWp target

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Manpower Ministry has launched a technical competency certification program for 60 prospective solar power assessors to support the country’s national target of 100 gigawatt-peak (GWp) in installed solar capacity, officials said Saturday.

The three-day training program, which concluded Saturday, aims to build the specialized workforce required to execute President Prabowo Subianto’s ambitious renewable energy expansion.

“Developing renewable energy must proceed in tandem with efforts to prepare competent human resources,” said Darmawansyah, Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity. “We need to ensure that the workforce possesses the skills required by the industry so they can contribute to power plant development.”

The initiative took place across three centers in West Java and Banten: Public Vocational High School 1 Garut, the Indonesia University of Education (UPI) in Bandung, and the Center for Vocational and Productivity Training (BBPVP) in Serang.

Each site hosted 20 participants focusing on specific technical tracks, including rooftop solar installation, power plant inspection and testing, and high-level system maintenance.

Organized alongside the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) and the Renewable Energy Professional Certification Body, the cohort comprised instructors, academics, and vocational teachers from 18 educational institutions tasked with building national technical capacity.
