Indonesia delivers clean water to nearly 7,000 people in Gaza

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas), in collaboration with zakat collection institution Muhajir, distributed 68,920 liters of clean water to nearly 7,000 people in Gaza, Palestine, including those displaced by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Baznas Head Sodik Mudjahid said the clean water initiative reflected the agency’s concrete efforts to help meet Palestinians’ basic needs, particularly those of displaced residents facing limited access to safe drinking water.

“Clean water is essential for daily life. Therefore, we hope that this aid will help ease the burden on residents and displaced families in Gaza,” he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.

Mudjahid added that the water distribution reached 6,892 people in the Al Qarara area of the Gaza Strip, with each recipient receiving 10 liters of water.

He explained that Baznas and its partner delivered the water aid directly to refugee camps to help meet the community’s needs for drinking water and sanitation.

“Through the distribution in Al Qarara, we hope people affected by the crisis will gain access to clean water for their daily needs. Amid this emergency situation, support for basic necessities such as drinking water and sanitation is vital for the Palestinian people,” he said.

The Baznas chief further added that the partnership with Muhajir forms part of the agency’s strategy to expand the reach of its humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need.

“We hope this assistance will provide tangible benefits to the recipients and serve as part of our collective effort to ease the burden on our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” he said.
