Madiun, E Java (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Immigration in Madiun, East Java, deported two Chinese nationals for violating their residence permits by working as supervisors at a construction project.
The two nationals, identified by the initials JL and JZ, were found overseeing construction workers, Madiun Immigration Office Chief Arief Adi Prayogo said here Wednesday.
Arief said the enforcement action began during a routine surveillance operation by the office’s Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team.
During an initial inspection, officers found indications of residence-permit violations and took the two foreign nationals to the Madiun Immigration Office for further questioning.
Investigators found that their work supervising construction workers was not permitted under the residence permits they held.
Madiun Immigration ordered their deportation as an administrative immigration measure under Article 75(1) of Indonesia’s Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.
JL and JZ were deported on Saturday, October 24, via Juanda International Airport in Surabaya on Xiamen Airlines flight MF8722, which was bound for Fuzhou, China.
“We welcome foreign nationals who make positive contributions, but we will take firm action against anyone who violates the rules in our jurisdiction,” Arief said.
Madiun Immigration also urged the public to report suspicious activities or the presence of foreign nationals through official complaint channels.
The office said it would strengthen oversight of foreign nationals and take action against residence-permit violations in accordance with the law.
