Nganjuk, East Java (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government is distributing rice assistance to 33.2 million beneficiaries in deciles 1 to 4 for October, November and December 2026, with each recipient eligible to receive a total of 30 kilograms.
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said President Prabowo Subianto had approved the distribution to help low-income households meet their food needs.
“There are 33.2 million recipients, with a total allocation of one million tons of rice,” he said on the sidelines of a rice aid distribution event in Kwagean Village, Nganjuk District, East Java, on Sunday.
In Kwagean Village, 16,260 kilograms of rice were distributed to 542 recipients.
Each recipient will receive 10 kilograms per month for three months, with the entire allocation provided at once.
East Java Bulog Regional Head Langgeng Wisnu Adinugroho said his office was preparing sufficient stocks and optimizing distribution channels to ensure the assistance reached eligible recipients across the province.
“We are committed to ensuring that the entire food aid distribution process runs smoothly, from rice stocks in warehouses to delivery to eligible residents,” he said.
The third phase of food aid distribution is part of the government’s efforts to ensure households have sufficient rice supplies through the end of 2026. The program is also expected to ease the financial burden on beneficiary families amid fluctuating food prices.
In addition to distributing rice assistance to residents, Hasan symbolically handed over aid to orphans and online motorcycle taxi drivers.
Residents welcomed the distribution, expressing gratitude for the assistance in meeting their food needs amid relatively high rice prices.
