Jakarta (ANTARA) – Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the government expects Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli’s two upcoming concerts in Indonesia to promote the country’s tourism destinations and cultural attractions to a wider global audience.
Bocelli is scheduled to perform at the Borobudur Temple Compounds in Magelang, Central Java, on October 31 and at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) on November 3 as part of a world tour marking the 30th anniversary of his iconic album “Romanza.”
Wardhana highlighted the significance of both venues for Indonesia’s tourism sector, describing them as “heritage destinations” worthy of hosting world-class events.
Regarding Borobudur, she underscored that the Buddhist temple, built between 775 and 832 CE, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and remains one of Indonesia’s premier cultural tourism destinations.
Meanwhile, Jakarta serves as the country’s hub for regenerative tourism, showcasing both modernity and cultural diversity, she added.
“These two locations send a strong message that Indonesia offers a wealth of highly diverse experiences,” Wardhana stated.

The minister further described Bocelli’s upcoming concerts as a major step toward developing quality tourism and strengthening Indonesia’s image as a global tourism destination.
She also expressed confidence that greater international exposure for Indonesia’s tourism sector would generate broad economic benefits by boosting business for event organizers, accommodation providers, culinary businesses, and other tourism-related industries.
Against this backdrop, Wardhana reaffirmed the Tourism Ministry’s commitment to empowering tourism businesses through the Event by Indonesia program.
From January 1 to July 31 this year, she said, the ministry had supported 105 events, which collectively attracted 6.47 million visitors.
The events generated around Rp1 trillion (more than US$56 million) in economic impact, benefiting more than 11,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as more than 184,000 workers and artists.
The ministry aims to support a total of 206 events by the end of 2026.
