Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Sugiono is seeking stronger collaboration among ministries and agencies to accelerate efforts addressing violence against women and children and improving their quality of life.

To advance the initiative, he exchanged views on pressing issues with Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Minister Arifah Fauzi at his office in Jakarta on Monday (Oct. 19), according to an official statement issued Wednesday.

“My ministry fully supports all strategic programs and initiatives rolled out by the PPPA Ministry. We will strengthen coordination among ministries and agencies, including those under other coordinating ministries,” Sugiono said.

He emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is essential to ensure that empowerment and protection programs remain sustainable and unhindered by bureaucratic silos.

Sugiono reaffirmed his commitment to resolving bureaucratic barriers and promoting a holistic approach to safeguard women and children nationwide.

He made the remarks in response to persistent cases of sexual, psychological, and physical violence across the country.

Sugiono underscored the importance of tracking progress through measurable metrics, including the Gender Development Index (IPG), Gender Inequality Index (IKG), and Child Protection Index (IPA).

“Improvements in the quality of life for women and children must be measurable. Cross-sector coordination must continue to be strengthened so that progress in addressing these issues can be evaluated more rigorously,” he said.

Furthermore, Sugiono assured the public that the government will continue strengthening Indonesia’s social protection system to support responsive and coordinated policymaking.

Monday’s discussion also highlighted measures undertaken by the PPPA Ministry to create safer environments, including expanding regional service units and the SAPA 129 reporting hotline.

The PPPA Ministry has also launched the Indonesia Common Space initiative and the Women’s Food Garden program to boost economic self-reliance for women in rural areas.
