Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Jakarta’s commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia across various sectors.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, Prabowo said ties between Indonesia and Russia have continued to grow, particularly in the areas of trade and the economy.

“Indonesia continues to strengthen cooperation in various fields to deliver mutual benefits for both of our countries,” he said during the event, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

Prabowo said the strengthening relationship between the two countries is reflected in expanding economic and trade cooperation.

“As Your Excellency noted, our economic and trade ties have expanded, and our partnerships across various fields have made significant progress. We stand ready to elevate this cooperation,” Prabowo said.

The luncheon was held on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, where Prabowo highlighted the forum’s potential to serve as a bridge for strengthening regional cooperation and connectivity.

He noted that Indonesia and Russia, as fellow Pacific nations, share strategic interests in regional cooperation, particularly in maritime affairs and connectivity.

“We are both Pacific nations, and as an archipelagic country, maritime connectivity and cooperation are critical for us,” he said.

Prabowo arrived at Vladivostok International Airport on Wednesday (Sept. 2) to attend the 11th EEF as a guest of honor.

His participation in the forum reflects Indonesia’s continued active engagement with Russia, following his attendance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2025.
