Central Lombok, NTB (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s state-owned tourism developer, the InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), is setting up a beachfront camping ground and campervan park to accommodate fans attending the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.
ITDC Operations Director and Chairman of the 2026 Mandalika MotoGP Troy Warokka said on Friday that the concept was designed as an alternative budget-friendly accommodation for spectators, particularly those making cross-country motorcycle trips from Sumatra and Java to the venue.
The race is scheduled to take place at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara Province from October 9 to 13.
“This is our answer for tourists who want to experience the Indonesian MotoGP in a different way,” Warokka stated.
After a three-month assessment period, ITDC selected a site along Mandalika Beach for its high visibility, ease of access, and existing public facilities, including restrooms and nearby commercial areas.
Beyond the racing weekend, officials hope the camping ground will stimulate broader coastal tourism development in the region.
Meanwhile, ticket sales for the event are tracking well, Warokka noted, adding that sales have reached roughly 50 percent of the target, buoyed by corporate bulk purchases, airline partnerships, and support from travel agencies.
“The public is increasingly realizing that they do not always have to book hotel rooms every day to watch the MotoGP. Travel packages have become much more accessible and diverse,” he said.
