Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Moscow hosted a cultural showcase titled “Wonderful Indonesia: Unity in Diversity” to promote the archipelago’s rich traditions and attract more Russian tourists.
Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy in Moscow Hartyo Harkomoyo said many Russians are already familiar with aspects of Indonesian culture through their visits to Bali.
“However, Indonesia is more than Bali. Indonesia offers many beautiful destinations, rich natural wealth, and diverse cultural heritage,” Harkomoyo noted in an official statement received here on Saturday.
Organized in collaboration with the Moscow City Government, the Indonesian showcase was a main highlight of the 2026 Theatre Boulevard International Festival, a summer-long event held at Chistoprudny Boulevard.
The August 29 event featured traditional dances by the Kirana Nusantara Dance Group, a pencak silat martial arts demonstration by the Russian Pencak Silat Federation, and a gamelan music and shadow puppet (wayang kulit) performance of the “Satria Bothok” epic by the Gamelan Dadali Group.
The showcase also included tourism promotional screenings and traditional dance performances by students from the Moscow City Open College. More than 450 Moscow residents attended the event.
Harkomoyo has expressed hope that the program would strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations by fostering deeper cultural understanding.
According to Statistics Indonesia, the country recorded 219,162 Russian tourist arrivals in 2025. From January to July 2026, Indonesia has welcomed 136,885 Russian visitors.
