Tasikmalaya (ANTARA) – Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said President Prabowo Subianto is strongly committed to strengthening Indonesia’s national defense during his first two years in office.
“Under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership, the Ministry of Defense, together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, continues to implement various strategic measures to build a strong, modern national defense capability that serves the interests of the nation and state,” Sjafrie said in a post on his Instagram account on Wednesday.
According to Sjafrie, these efforts are essential because Indonesia needs to strengthen its capacity to anticipate the effects of global conflicts currently unfolding in several regions.
The government, says Sjafrie, has taken several steps to strengthen national defense, including procuring advanced major weapons systems, strengthening the organizational structure of TNI, and establishing Territorial Development Battalions to reinforce territorial development in several regions.
The development of the domestic defense industry, improvements in human resource quality, and stronger international defense cooperation are also part of our concrete efforts to build a strong and self-reliant national defense system,” Sjafrie said.
He said Indonesia’s national defense system would continue to strengthen under Prabowo’s administration.
He expressed hope that the defense system developed so far would be able to protect the public and safeguard the country’s sovereignty.
